Scouts from across the Field Service Council acknowledged Veterans Day today and throughout the weekend. Scouts and Venturers from Troop 1053 and Crew 9059 in Muskegon held a flag retirement, a contingent of Scouts attended the christening of the USS Gerald R Ford CVN-78 supercarrier in Virginia, and Scouts from Troop 167 in Manistee honored local veterans at the seventh annual Veterans dinner at St. Josephs.
A replay of the live webcast of the christening can be found hereExternal Link.

Journey to Excellence

Each year it is important to take a moment to look back and reflect on successes and areas of improvement. Journey to Excellence helps every Scouting program do just that. And so now through the end of the year, we will be highlighting two objectives from the journey in each issue to help you climb the summit this year and next.

Budgets are prerequisite to an organized Scouting program. You should know the costs for your awards, registrations, and activities for a year so that you can intelligently plan fundraisers (and also not over fill your calendar with fundraisers). The Boy Scouts have this Unit Budget Plan

Special Thanks - Merit Badge Sponsor

This summer, the President Ford FSC developed a new program where businesses and organizations can become a sponsor of one of the more than 130 Merit Badges available to our Scouts. Click here to read how you can become involved as a Merit Badge Sponsor.

This issue we  would like to recognize Roosien & Associates: Surveying and EngineeringExternal Link in Grand Rapids for their commitment to Scouting with their sponsorship of the Surveying Merit Badge.  With their support we will ensure that our youth will have the opportunity to attend summer camp, own their own books and uniforms, and enjoy all the benefits of Scouting. Their funding will also help create more Scout units, and develop a strong sense of Scouting throughout our communities.

Scouting History

The Boy Scouts of America has been around for 103 years, 9 months, and 3 days. In that time, millions and millions of Americans have enjoyed themselves in the pursuit of fun in the outdoors. There are also a ton of fun photos from throughout the years. Each issue of the Proclamation will now end with a historical Scouting photo.

Today's photo is from an advertisement for the Cub Scout's Snowflake Carnival at the Comstock Park School Gym on Saturday, December 5, 1959 from 4:00 Until 9:00 O'clock. (Click here for the full flyer courtesy of Tom Cross of Troop 223)

If you have read this far- please join Dan in thanking the folks who found last week's typos! If I'm forgetting to include something or including too many mistakes for your liking let me know! Send me a photo and I might just include it in a future issue! As always, if you have any feedback or thoughts on future issues of the President Ford Proclamation, please contact Dan Soszynski.
